This national primary road badly needs to be upgraded.
The N17 needs to be upgraded much like the N4 was on the Sligo end. Would not only help with traffic in Tobercurry and Charlestown but it’s dangerous.
Also reinstating the WRC for the railway wouldnt hurt either
I had a van pull out in front of me on the main road after ballindine and not use the hard shoulder. I had to slam on my brakes and swerve into the hard shoulder to avoid hitting them. They were oblivious to what they just done.
A lot of roads need to be upgraded. The car haters aren’t happy about it, but it’s just a fact.
I really do feel like people’s driving has gotten particularly bad over the last 12-18 months. People have gone from breaking amber lights (guilty) to full blown red light breaking, and erratic lane changes and the like are increasingly common (or I’m just more aware of it since I’m looking for it perhaps).
Either way, road policing really needs to improve in this country, and not just the issuance of arbitrary speeding fines, but clamping down on actual dangerous driving
Some serious blind corners around there. Just extend the motorway at Tuam or at least take the bad bends out. Nobody was asking for a dual carriage way to Westport.
