Sorry, it was me, had the new Taco Bell that opened recently, couldn’t hold it anymore and just had to detonate it.

Wonder was it supposed to go off here or in the US? Pretty amazing work preventing it though!

Doesn’t give confidence in Heathrow security, if they managed to make it through there.

    4. Likely tipped off?

Heathrow wouldn’t have missed these unless hidden in some new way?

So it was a stop off from London to JFK. I wonder how they missed that in London when he went through security unless he put it together on the flight.

Wow, wouldn’t want to be travelling today! My nerves would be gone. Hopefully it’s just one person acting alone, but with the cyber attack who knows. Scary!

So you can’t bring your detonators on holiday with you anymore? What are we coming to

Someone thought they lifted travel restrictions on detonators and liquids this week.

What kind of force can they generate? Purely scoped to a certain material or could produce a small explosion on their own? E.g. a risk to the plane they were on?

The security at US customs and border control must have caught this? Otherwise why would the person be going through security again in Dublin?

The article mentions nothing about any detonators and says the individual spoke to the Gardai but wasn’t arrested. Why the title so?

Shows how many people read the article as well…

Is it possible the device wasn’t actually a detonator, and just a false alarm? It seems unlikely he would have made it through security in London if it was a detonator, and the article states that the passenger in question was not even arrested.

So, did someone try to take advantage of the cyber attack on the baggage check in systems? I can only imagine airport staff were stressed and this slipped through???

Title of Reddit post states person was arrested, and same person was found with suspect detonators.

The article states no-one was arrested and mentions nothing about detonators.

Doesn’t mention detonators in the article. Only says:

“While no formal arrest was made, gardaí engaged with a passenger.

The ongoing alert was caused after suspicion arose about the contents of a bag which was on the plane. It is understood the passenger’s final destination was the United States.”

I just read the whole article and didn’t see one mention of a detonator?
