The EU plans to gradually stop the import of Russian gas and oil by the end of 2027. Nonetheless, annual EU imports of Russian pipeline gas via Türkiye have been gradually increasing in recent years.
There was an article earlier of EU countries still buying Russian gas. Guess that the others just added a middle man to it and called it a day.

Reminds of the sanctions against exports to Russia causing a steep decline in trade coinciding with a massive surge in exports to countries like Uzbekistan.
I kinda sympathize with European leaders. General economy has been quite poor since the invasion. If they were to implement the stuff with sincerity the ensuing job losses and price increases would shift a lot of support away from backing Ukraine.
