I’m tired, boss.
“You will own nothing and be happy”.
This surely won’t have any disastrous impact on our society thankfully, so we can continue to ensure that house prices continue to rise for those ‘who’ve got theirs’.
I’ve been trying to buy for past 18 months. I’ve been outbid from every single property. Last week we bid on a property with asking price of 350k but its been sold for 500k.
How is any of that sustainable?
Let’s build a knowledge economy where no one can afford to live…government policy
Single earners aren’t trying to buy the average, 3 bed houses . That’s normally a couple.
I’m just so tired, boss
Like geniunely there is no hope here
But what can we do ?
Government construction company?
Stop non irish buying homes?
Use apple 13 billion to build massive projects?
6 times salary multiplier?
I’m just so tired, what can we do??
This is a consequence of our governments obsession with economic growth and FDI at any cost.
Paschal Donohue a few weeks ago was asked for example about net migration being 90k a year when only 30k units are added per annum (rough figures don’t slaughter me 😂) and his answer was striking, it was literally only in the frame of economic growth and as if nothing else mattered.
Our government is entirely behest to the rentier classes interests (particularly when it comes to IPAS accommodation and private landlords) and foreign companies paying corporation tax here to the point where the reality is housing costs cannot come down.
Instead, it’s far more politically useful, at least at the moment, to keep net migration extremely high to keep demand strong, and continue the charade.
Only when the tide comes in, when it inevitably does, do you see who’s wearing swim shorts.
