I’m not a particular fan of Ed Davey or the Lib Dems, but I feel like the article kinda sidesteps the fact that they started doing these ‘stunts’ because, despite being the third largest political party in the country, they were largely frozen out of a lot of media coverage. *Talking policy* didn’t make headlines.
some proper liberal reform would be nice, bonfire of various regulations over the years would be great
It’s kind of curious to make the whole party essentially revolve around Ed Davey being a lovely chap, and looking a bit like that actor out of Paddington, when he was a key part of an unpopular coalition government whose mistakes probably led to the Brexit vote, he was the energy secretary at the time that government failed to use the opportunity of historically low interest rates to meaningfully expand nuclear power, he was the Post Office minister when the Horizon scandal occurred, and then later, according to reports, he was paid £275k over 5 years, £800 an hour, as a personal salary, to work as a consultant for HSF, the legal firm being paid by the Post Office to defend their claims (he says the salary was to advise on renewable energy, and he didn’t know they had the Post Office account). It’s not really the best record.
UK head of Palantir is grandson of Oswald Mosley, and hates the NHS, basically in line with his Boss Peter Thiel big time Trump supporter and terrible human being.
Also responsible for most of the shitty AI the Israel’s use for their Where’s Daddy Programm to bomb anyone connected to Hamas, imagine the IRA did that to the tory government, Civil Service, NHS, and their families now all targets, most of the civil service are a bunch of soft-lefties anyway…
Oh and recent news, early funder of Palantir to the tune of $40M, drum roll, Mr Epstein himself…
And its too late to an extent anyway, Boris shared a bunch of stuff with them already
