Someone recently got 30 months for shouting at a protest.

    2. 12 months for a peado, yet a tweet gets you 2 years. Absolutely mental.

      lol, lmao even.

Bring back the IPPs, and make him pay back society.

      It is bizarre,

      >Hadush Kebatu has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after being found guilty of five charges, including sexually assaulting a teenage girl and a woman.

      >Before delivering the sentence, the judge said Kebatu had tried to take his own life while in prison, but he could not have a suspended prison sentence as there was “no realistic prospect” of rehabilitation and posed a “significant risk of reoffending”.

Simply put, if it is twelve months for five offences, including two which involved sexual assaults (and one on a child), despite there being no chance of rehabilitation and where there is a significant risk of reoffending, then either the judge, the court or the sentencing guidelines are not fit for purpose.

Hadush Kebatu is jailed for 12 months for sexually assaulting a woman and a 14-year-old girl in Epping

The government is complicit here, the gross negligence in failing to protect our borders has led to crimes that would otherwise never have happened.

Only 12 months?, is an absolute joke – the only rightful outcome after his sentence is deportation – no humanitarian ifs, no humanitarian buts, just deport.

He needs to live with the consequences of his actions. He only has himself to blame.

An ‘either-way’ offence, tried in the magistrates court without a jury, and given the maximum sentence available.

Why was this not tried in the crown court? 5 offences and against children.

Anyone know because I’ve been asking for months now with no clear answer.

A fitting sentence! He’s just a child rapist, after all. We’re not talking about an actual monster, like someone posting on social media, or shouting at police!

Automatic denial of asylum, whatever his circumstances might be back in his home country. Sorry.

Lucy Connolly got two years and 7 months with a guilty plea knocking time off that.

We’re a joke. Now let’s watch him evade deportation because Ethiopia treats sex offenders harshly and it would be against his human rights to hand him over.

He should be deported after the sentence.

This is also the maximum He could have been given because its in a magistrates court. I expect there will be people on the streets tonight though.

What baffles me is they go through all the effort of coming here. Is life back home really all that bad if it’s still worth raping someone pretty much immediately after arriving

I was assaulted a bit over 5 years back. Multiple arrests, one person in hospital, a few 100 hours of police time, 8 people held overnight in cells, 1 in the hospital etc.

It came out afterwards the person who started it all had been arrested 33 times before for similar violent crimes.

He wasn’t charged because no one was killed, everyone involved was male and no one used any bad words (racial, homophobic etc motivation).

I was kind of shocked. But it turns out common assault (even up to GBH) is defacto legal in the UK.

Now, years later people are surprised the same kind of thing is becoming true for women, crimes including some sexual motive etc. It’s kind of weird…

I imagine the guy who attacked us is either still at it or has actually (unintentionally) killed someone or moved to include women in his victim portfolio.

I think what I am trying to say is that this is “shocking but not surprising”…

Cue people in the comments not understanding sentencing guidelines.

    14. Necessary-Product361 on

Everyone here is missing (deliberately nor not) that 12 months is the maximum time that can be given by a magistrate court and that he will be deported as soon as his sentence ends. Im sure if he was given longer, the same people would be complaining he should be deported right away, and if he was deported immediately, they would be complaining he didn’t serve time.

    15. WhoYaTalkinTo on

      12 months!?

Does the government want to fuel the far right? Because this bullshit is exactly how you fuel the far right.

    16. 12 fracking months. Only a minor inconvenience to that monster. Abhorrent.

No wonders the right is on a massive rise when shit like this happens.

Is it too hard to have a book thrown at sex offenders regardless of back ground.

The Judge and the people that set that guidance need to be sacked. The magistrates court should have bumped it to crown court

    17. Dreading what Epping is going to be like this evening. Anytime there’s news involving the hotel the local dregs of society go around smashing things up or shouting at the hotel, or urinating, graffiti-ing or litter.

Because nothing says nothing pride like smashing things up.
