This is heartbreaking. Animals deserve proper care and living conditions.
It’s good that action has been taken on this, but why is it only certain species that get afforded this protection?
There are routine exposes of RSPCA/Red-Tractor assured pig farms, cow farms, chicken farms, that break the law and neglect and abuse their animals. All that happens is the assurance schemes temporarily remove their logo, a few staff might be let go, and the farm continues on as before. Why do those farms not get closed down?

You know, until 2006 the maximum he could have got was 6-months. Then again, he could have got the maximum, which is now 5 years considering how many animals are involved. I wonder, is this the longest anyone has ever got for animal cruelty?
