“One asylum seeker told the BBC he had taken a 250-mile journey to visit a GP, with the driver telling him the cost to the Home Office was £600.”

I think the government needs to be more transparent with regards to ALL the hidden costs of housing illegal immigrants so they can be held to account.

The article seems to suggest that the home office doesn’t keep tab on taxi fairs, which is shameful considering the number of illegal migrants & high cost of your typical taxi fare.

      More money down the drain.

      >Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme he agreed that there should be an investigation into how the system works.

FFS, are Labour utterly utterly stupid.

As soon as Reform started to push the asylum hotel issue and the costs involved they WTF didn’t Labour demand from the civil service a full breakdown of where money was being spent so they could get a jump on dealing with issues like this before the journalists started poking it and putting in FOI requests?

Did they just think it would stay hidden and nobody would find out?

This asylum seeker crisis feels like trickle truth. At first the narrative that these were genuine refugees who had no legal routes to claim asylum in the UK besides boat crossings, and they weren’t much of a burden in the grand scheme of things. Now it’s just open knowledge that these are working age men, illegally working and getting better access to housing and public services than many UK citizens.

I think there are going to be more and more of the stories that paint an increasingly worse picture of the situation

    4. People seem to think the world will collapse if we leave the ECHR. They forget that our legal system was working perfectly well before it was adopted.

It’s not just asylum seekers. Although I know that’s the flavour of the month so it makes the headlines.

There is a massive issue in general with Taxi usage. Another case is in regard to SEND students going to specialised schools. Due to the lack of local schools councils are having to pay a lot of money for transport students long distances. The NHS also has high costs in relation to this as well.

Must be nice! Free accommodation, no energy bills, food provided and a driver to cater to your travel needs!

No wonder the population thinks the system is rigged against them

*”One asylum seeker told the BBC he had taken a 250-mile journey to visit a GP, with the driver telling him the cost to the Home Office was £600″*

So basically all the tax I paid last month has been wasted on this. I can’t afford to spend £600 on a taxi ride, yet we are handing them out to people that have contributed nothing.

Not only me, but the government can’t afford this either… they are borrowing more and are planning on putting taxes up again, and it still won’t be enough.

Yet…Theyre not illegals apparently….they’ve just done lots of illegal things along the way and continue in the same vain when they get here.

The asylum system needs to end completely. We already have special agreements with Ukraine and Hong Kong, and men in Ukraine bravely serve their country while we protected their women and children.

      The system is completely broken.

If we just taxed the billionaires and the corporations we could buy each illegal migrant a personal chauffeur.

So does this mean the figures previously stated on costs need (drastically) revising?

As a civil servant, the hoops I have to jump through to claim a £5 bus trip when visiting a customer…meanwhile, the gov don’t even keep records of how much they are spending on taxis and transport?

      Is this a joke?
