Lefties and manipulating the political process, name a better duo

Technically, Ms Berry wasn’t elected. A Green Party representative was elected, and she was next on the list.

While this is politically poor, it’s not the crookery that it looks like at first glance.

She was not elected. The Green Party was elected to the Assembly, and she was on their list of names to take the position. It will just go to the next person on the Green Party’s list.

Other London Assembly members who resigned and were replaced by the next person down the list (or who did the replacing) include:

    – David Lammy

    – Susan Hall

    – Kemi Badenoch

With Sian Berry joining them, it’s clear that this is a cross-party phenomenon. So if anyone doesn’t like the way it works, I hope they’ll focus on an argument for changing it rather than pretending that it’s different when one specific politician who they don’t like does it!

  6. Greens’ Sian Berry revealed to have been elected to London Assembly as part of her final year project at Central Saint Martins.
