Vengo dal Kirghizistan e qui, specialmente negli ultimi due anni, molte persone indossano abiti tradizionali o almeno abiti moderni con disegni tradizionali su di loro abbastanza frequentemente, settimanalmente se non al giorno (le immagini sono solo alcuni esempi, non ho intenzione di pubblicizzare questi negozi in modo specifico). È molto comune vedere vecchi che giovani indossano Ak-Kalpak, Chapans, Thirts con disegni di Kirghizz, ecc. Ho visitato l’Azerbaigian nell’inverno del 2023-24 e non ho visto niente di simile. Tutti indossavano il nero. Che succede con questo? L’Azerbaigian ha una storia tessile così ricca e alcuni vestiti davvero fantastici, ma non sembra essere popolare tra le persone (almeno da quello che ho visto in Bakı Gәncә e әәki). Trovo un po ‘divertente in realtà dal momento che sembra che molti azeri siano molto nazionalisti e persino pan-turkic, ma non sembrano indossare i vestiti tradizionali (a parte forse un karakul di tanto in tanto). Ma dirò anche che sono appena arrivato come turista per alcune settimane, quindi forse mi manca qualcosa, se qualcuno lo sa e tali negozi in Azerbaigian, mi sento libero di condividere!

we do? we don’t go out in random day with traditional clothing however during every festival and celebration throughout the year, we wear. i have always worn my traditional clothe during important days, and my friends also do the same thing as well.
This is a characteristic of the entire post-Soviet space. In the Soviet Union, they drummed into us that national dress was ridiculous and shameful. But I’m not Azerbaijani.
It makes you look like an villager
I’ve seen this with Kazakhs as well, you guys have modern brands and people who produce traditional wear with modern considerations. This allows to wear a lot of traditional looking clothes on daily basis without looking weird.
We don’t, or the ones that do aren’t popular. We need people to invest into this and also people with knowledge in fashion to blend tradition and modernity. I’ve heard few Azerbaijanis major in fashion, and none who stayed in Azerbaijan
I’m not sure about Azerbaijan, but Turkish people usually dislike that. They often feel inferior to Westerners. They see traditional clothing as outdated, rural, and ignorant. And since some of our traditional clothing was influenced by neighboring cultures, they tend to emulate Turkic groups from Central Asia instead.
