‘Mum, if you’re selfish enough to drag the NHS through loads of everyone’s money trying to look after you when you’re obviously a lost cause and will experience pain for the rest of your life, whilst we are desperate for your will money to put a deposit on our house and we, your remaining family, are suffering without it because of you, we’ll never visit you here in the hospice, and you’ll live however long you live knowing your family hated you in the end because you were so selfish in staying when everyone else in your situation would be euthanised because THEY are actually decent people.

Surely you are not stupid enough to make that choice? I always thought of you as intelligent and articulate, not a batty old women shitting her pants with no dignity left? Why would you choose that dishonour, are you crazy?

So do the decent thing, the ethical thing, and agree to be euthanised like anyone reasonable would. We’ve always loved you, don’t let us all down, don’t let your whole family down now, by not doing the decent thing. SURELY you’re not that selfish, and you’re not going to throw away all our memories of you as a nice person? Are you really that mean, that horrible, that selfish, that you’ll carry on hurting your own family by not getting it done? By god I’ll make SURE your grandchildren know what a horrible person you ended up being if you don’t do the decent thing now ..’
