I can’t imagine a situation in which Russian air assets stay out of Ukrainian skies while Ukrainian drones continue to strike Russia. Russia would simply ignore the no-fly-zone.
However, a partial NFZ over western Ukraine might give Russia pause for thought. They would pause attacks in the designated area, and then “test” the NFZ, both in terms NATO’s ability to enforce it, and NATO’s resolve to enforce it.
From the very beginning, NATO needs to establish the terms.
**Any violation of the NFZ will necessitate extending it eastward**. In other words, Russia, by aggressive actions, has the means the expand the NFZ, but not remove it.
