“Vladimir Putin will expand his war in Ukraine by attacking another European country, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has predicted, and accused Russia of recent drone incursions that he said were an attempt to test Nato’s defences.
Speaking in Kyiv after his meeting with Donald Trump at the UN in New York, the Ukrainian president said Russia was preparing for a bigger conflict. “Putin will not wait to finish his war in Ukraine. He will open up some other direction. Nobody knows where. He wants that,” he said.
Ukraine’s president said the Kremlin was deliberately checking Europe’s capacity to protect its skies, after drone sightings in Denmark, Poland and Romania and the violation of Estonian airspace by Russian fighter jets. More drones were spotted on Friday night above a Danish military base, and over a Norwegian base on Saturday.”

Putin desperately needs a quick skirmish with NATO to sell a defeat in Ukraine to his own people and get an off ramp that doesn’t kill him. Which is why it is imperative that any skirmish in Russia results in carpet bombing the entire Russian army in Ukraine and causing catastrophic losses to them so Putin can get his Gaddafi moment which is what he is terrified of the most.

They won’t. Ukrainian government is trying to keep the war relevant in the minds of Europeans by reminding of security risks, but realistically Russia won’t attack others before the Ukraine war has concluded and that might be 10 years from now, if europeans keep buying weapons for Ukraine, which is what we most likely will do.
As a three star reddit general ,i highly doubt they are planning to attack a nato county anytime soon. To me it feels like this is just political speak to give Ukraine more weapons so they could deal with russia on their turf (which i agree with that we should)

Getting to Moldova/Transnistria requires going through Ukrainian controlled areas. Regardless of how the election proceeds, I doubt that is realistic.
So if Putin is going to attack a different nation, there is just one country on the list. The nation that alread has a lot of Russian troops in it.

Probably Moldova if the pro Russian candidate loses the election. It’s small a none NATO country whit a decent chunk of the population that’s pro Russian. So it can be a quick win to save face from the long war in Ukraine, and if they manage to some how end the war in Ukraine with taking all of Ukraine’s coast so they have direct land connection to Moldova, they can then use it to influence the Balkans. Since theres a strong pro Russian presence in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Montenegro and to a lesser extent North Macedonia and Bosnia.
