Such a stunning voice. Saw her live at a Sting concert and she was incredible. Seems very personable too.

She did a fanstastic job of it too

It would have been nice if she learned the words instead of making noises that sound like the words

She has an amazing voice, fair play to her. But am I alone in being a bit queasy about the Star Spangled Bannerification of Amhrán na bhFiann? It’s a military march, not a ballad like.

Loved it. Got goosebumps.

Was there, she sounded superb live in the stadium.

I’m a big Lyra fan but that was a crappy rendition. Tempo was deliberately off and the pronunciation wasn’t there either.
It’s not the Star Spangled Banner, you just sing it as is. A shame because she has an unbelievable set of pipes on her.

She was great but every time she paused we all sang ahead of her and had to stop, think of the fans!

I was at it, and although I liked it, I found it very hard to sing along to.
That’s because at certain points, specifically towards the end, she didn’t follow the standard beat that we are all used to.

To those criticizing her pronunciation, this is the exact pronunciation I learned when I was in school. I think it’s a Munster Irish thing.

She did a good job of it. I’m not sure that all this fussing over the very fine details of pronunciation are all that fair tbh. Only a very small number of us are native speakers and the specifics of the pronunciation vary depending on what dialect you grew up hearing. Most of us probably learned mispronounced second language speaker interpretations of Irish anyway, especially in primary school.
Our anthem doesn’t really tend to lend itself to dramatic stadium renditions, so I think she did a phenomenal job there. It’s a fussy sounding piece of music influenced by the genres that were popular at time it was written – very piano player stage music type stuff. As anthems go, musically it’s not one that leaves performers with a lot to work with.
