Isn’t it just the world we just find ourselves living in? Scared to take tough decisions for fear of reprisals.

    2. Oolacile_Resident on

      This – is *somewhat* true…

We like to tear into the French but at least they have the sense to realise & react appropriately when their government is fucking them over

    3. DeepestShallows on

How do people actually form that sort of opinion? Like, who the bally hell knows what Johnny Foreigner is thinking?

    4. One-Cod-5049 on

      I mean it’s totally true.

We’re the sick man of Europe.

Clinging to the glory days of WW2 and to a lesser extent, Cool Britannia.

It doesn’t have to be this way, we have a lot going for us, but we don’t have the strong leadership to do anything about it.

    5. Desperate_Caramel_10 on

I believe we’re seen as a place anyone can come and be able to live and work in peace with a stable government, stable climate and decent rule of law.

The problem is how very few of those exist that’s all.

    6. Snap_Ride_Strum on

These days we are. The UK is a shadow of its former self.

    7. Wanallo221 on

It’s almost as if having the media shitting on Britain and Britons for years calling us soft, weak and crap has led to a situation where we think we are all soft weak and crap.

      Funny that.

    8. Hi, someone from the rest of the world.

Stop telling yourself this, it’s bollocks. Most of my European friends see Britain as strong but confused. Most of my non European friends see the UK as a place to aspire to live in.

    9. hudibrastic on

My friends back home ask me everyday how can British people be so passive while seeing their culture being erased

    10. Outside-Analyst-9854 on

It is precisely how it’s viewed, mid of the biggest invasion since Vikings yet the minorities and ultra left is in charge so it’s “all good”, until the next election when so many will wonder how it happened. Definition of cuckooland.

    11. Dramatic-Ad-4607 on

I mean yeah. I feel like if we are being genuine here no matter what side politically we fall under we could all some what agree with this.

    12. childrenofloki on

Can we stop this stupid “soft” bullshit. What a crap insult. Just stop. We’re not in The Beano.

    13. light_to_shaddow on

Slanted research from a vested party.

Basically, Save the Children want their gov funding back.

After the sexual abuse scandal in 2018 Save the Children were banned from applying for state funding, they can apply now but it’s a smaller pie than before. Interestingly it didn’t stop them investing $100 million in the stock market though.

So they put in a nothing statement like “three out of four Britains believe other people think X”. Without saying which Britains, without stating how the questions were asked (which can have a huge impact on the answer) and more importantly if people outside the UK actually think what is claimed.

They could’ve polled actual people outside the U.K. but I suspect it wouldn’t give the answer Save the Children want.

Focus groups are funny things. I’m sure I could find one that would agree “Britains believe Save the Children misuse funding”. It makes no odds if that’s true or not but it makes for a nice planted story.

As a Canadian I don’t see the UK as weak. I just don’t understand why you’re obsessed with selling your national treasures to foreign investors.

    15. MrSierra125 on

Very true. The U.K. has had decades of corrupt leaders and the British public stood by them. The U.K. is riddled with a criminal upper class and they look the other way. The U.K. is an international money laundering hub and the British public simply do not care

    16. Vikkio92 on

It’s honestly sad seeing all these comments talking about “our culture being erased” when the one and only problem we have is the wealthy stealing everything from us – *all* of us…

    17. Little_Standard_1953 on

Millions of people voted for austerity, Brexit, and Boris Johnson “because he’s funny”. I’d use the word thick personally.

    18. shplarggle on

Maybe it’s because we destroyed our country in the obvious manipulation of the Russians?? And continue to do so…

    19. DidgeryDave21 on

My favourite part of this comment thread is all the English people, who by definition are not the rest of the world claiming this is true, whilst all those from overseas are saying it isn’t.

    20. the_magicwriter on

Let me guess, the people who think that (which is true) also voted for Brexit, which was a bit factor in this pathetic, third country situation.

    21. Important_Material92 on

This is such an introverted and nonsense opinion, this truth only exists in the echo chamber of Britain itself. No one loves talking Britain down more than the British

    22. SamePlane7792 on

We’ve been surviving off of our reputation alone since WW2 and now even that is wearing off.

    23. yellow-beard1 on

I think we have weak leadership & a soft touch on some things. But then we also have hardcore examples such as prison for tweets, the aftermath of the riots, arrests for social media posts etc. Maybe some measures are reactionary to mask a weakness or curtail aggressive opinions of one.

    24. Archaemenes on

Nobody except antisocial Redditors and disillusioned Reform supporters sees Britain as either of those things

    25. Jazzlike_Method_7642 on

      ITT: Dog whistles galore lol

if half the people actually see what and who the problems are instead of jumping on people with slightly more melanin content, we’d be better off

    26. Well yeah is this news? Eu believes this us believes this and the people of the uk believe this. At what point does the uk realize its just a fact

    27. Do_Not_Touch_BOOOOOM on

Naah not weak but batshit crazy. I know you don’t want to hear it but take an example from the french and burn some royals to get the point across. You guys get bent over at the moment by some posh assholes.

    28. finnlaand on

Yeah, rich people have particularly narrow shoulders. Can’t carry anything. Forgot how to carry generations ago.
