Yet no effort has been made to revive industrial net making on the island

Imagine Geran drones flying into Dublin. Shit would be goofy and hilarious. Irish people would just go “shure what can ya do?” Because zey hæv no air defense.

Well yeah Russia has been conducting a hybrid war across Europe for years now

Didn’t Dublin Airport purchase anti-drone equipment after that became known?

Ireland isn’t immune to any kind of attack. The drones are the least of our shagging worries. A Russian warship could sail up the Liffey in the morning and who would we send out to meet them? Three gardai and two coast guard in a rowing boat probably. Good man Simon though, his skills for pointing out the blatantly obvious are on point as always.

We shouldn’t fool ourselves but we also won’t do anything to prepare!

      >Mr Harris, who is also Defence Minister, said today that no country is immune to these sorts of attacks.

      >“It’s one of the reasons why we’re significantly increasing our Defence Forces capabilities.

      >“We should never fool ourselves or convince ourselves that Ireland is immune from such attack,” he said, adding that it is important the government invests in radar capability.

      >“I like to think of it as a bit of a burglar alarm type of system that gives us a greater understanding and warning as to what’s happening in our skies and that’s why I think it’s a really sensible and a prudent time to invest in radar.”

      >The Defence Forces chief of staff, Lieutenant General Rossa Mulcahy, said he hopes that new aerial defence capabilities will be delivered in 2026.

Ah but the tankies say we’re neutral so you know if the drones arrive we can – checks notes – use “diplomacy” to talk them down.

The PBP clowns will tell us we have nothing to worry about and then when Dublin airport gets closed they’ll jump on the backs of security services of this country

Crazy that Ireland’s annual spend on asylum seeker accommodation is almost twice what it spends on Defence.

Absurd that any First World country would end up in such a position. Ireland is setting itself up for big, big problems in the coming years. Scandalous mismanagement.

Simon states the obvious and will do absolutely nothing about it. He’s not even mediocre. He’s a dead weight paid for buy the generous tax payer. We need leaders, not career politicians without the basic competencies required to deliver the bare minimum. He should go into the private sector for 5 to ten years, get some experience, get a qualifications, and then come back and try his hand at politics when he might have something of value to offer. For now he’s just punching in hours and spinning his wheels. The only plus side is that FG’s results will continue to deteriorate under his leadership. He’s just not even remotely a leader nevermind a competent one.

On that note, has anyone else seen the ufo conspiracy theorists go crazy claiming that it’s an alien invasion, all because Denmark couldn’t get a confirmation of whose drones they were. All these people have been riled up since that supposed alien craft was shot with a missile and the missile bounced off. Honestly, entertaining stuff.

So a “burglar alarm” is the best he can come up with. JFC.
