Follow up to the post by [u/Pupcup2](https://www.reddit.com/user/Pupcup2/) a few days ago [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/1nrxry1/is_new_dublin_restaurant_entrec%C3%B4te_connected_to/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) which was [an article](https://www.allthefood.ie/single-post/is-new-dublin-restaurant-entrec%C3%B4te-connected-to-the-french-originals) by %5Ballthefood.ie%5D(http://allthefood.ie/) doing some good actual journalistic digging. The Entrecôte Dublin owners have had to admit they aren’t actually affiliated with the original at all despite several news outlets parroting their press releases implying exactly that.

At least the Indo had the grace to admit in their piece that they also didn’t question anything but man, fair play to Lisa Cope, the original article author, for stopping for five minutes and asking basic questions.

Everyone losing their mind over bottomless chips and average streak. Bottomless chips would be great if you were paying a tenner for the whole meal but thirty fucking quid!

*The PR firm handling the opening of the Dublin restaurant has since released a statement noting it had “terminated its relationship with Entrecôte Dublin effective immediately”.*

      Too much at stake

Part of me wants to say “jaysus why would you lie about that, in an age where that can be found out so quickly?” but I guess based on how long they were able to wing it, there’s your answer!

I really hope this place shuts down fast. That kind of blatant lying shouldn’t be supported.

Their branding is totally different. Why did people assume they were the same chain?

If the “journals of note” can’t even check a simple press release for a restaurant, then they can definitely not be trusted to ask the hard questions about subjects that matter and just spout press releases instead. Unfortunately I still know people who blindly believe anything that’s printed in a paper

The same chancer owner, Paul McGlade jnr, has made false claims about 2 other businesses. The allthefood.ie article mentions these too

‘Their Powerscourt Pizza restaurant Little Pyg is continuously described on their website, social channels and in press communications as “Michelin guide pizza”. The claim comes from their hiring of consultant chef Enzo Coccia to help create the menu. The renowned pizza chef is based in Naples, but travels around the world consulting for and opening new restaurants. He was last reported to be heading stateside. Coccia’s Naples restaurant La Notizia 53 is Michelin-recommended. Little Pyg is not.’

    9. I’m very surprised that the original restaurant group haven’t done some kind of brand copywrite and so this Dublin facsimile will be in receipt of some case against them

      This story seems strangely familiar

Love to see BS artists like this get called out. Plenty of honest people out there trying to make a living, meanwhile people will queue up for nonsense like this because some stupid TikTok post told them to… Sigh
