This is great, but I’m sceptical of it doing much because of the large number of politicians that are landlords; They aren’t going to cap against their own interests.
Rent control is an economically illiterate policy.
__You cannot regulate your way out of a supply crisis.__
The only solution to a supply crisis is more supply, but because they’re morons, local authorities seem hell bent on doing everything other than taking measures to allow housing supply to naturally rise to meet demand.
If the rent doesn’t cover the mortgage, repairs, insurance, gas safety checks etc then the landlord will sell up. More social housing would be a solution rather than tinkering around the edges.
