Women’s rights are unironically _weakened_ as a result of this bathroom ban. More employers and service providers will look to provide gender neutral options only to avoid lawsuits and complaints. Gender non-conforming women and Women with double mastectomy will be challenged when they use women’s spaces. Mothers will find struggle to bring their sons to women’s toilets for their own safety.

All the while male predators will continue to ignore any signage and enter women’s toilets and changing rooms anyway.

Where did everyone go for a shit 10/20/30 years ago? Trans people weren’t invented yesterday.

It’s only been a year and there’s at least 5 other things I can think of higher on the list

    5. Labour attack trans rights.

Labour want to make ID which states your gender mandatory.

Trans groups have a vastly over inflated sense of their importance

Hardly anyone would think Labour’s legacy rested on whether trans identifying people were allowed to use the bathrooms set aside for the opposite sex

Isn’t this a case of the government following a court ruling rather than an ideological thing?

That court case JK Rowling was crowing about?

It’s darkly funny reading this all having lived in a bunch of countries with self ID and courts that don’t think there’s some divine right to never be near trans people. The sky hasn’t fallen, crimes aren’t committed en masse, pretty much nothing happens because it’s such a tiny number of people just going about their lives.

The whole thing in the UK is a ridiculous media beat up that the politica and judicial class enabled for reasons I can only assume relate to the proliferation of lead paint when they were growing up

    9. Of all the fuckups this government has had so far, I don’t think this is Iraq War levels of legacy-defining.
