She did so much more than keeping up appearances, great actress, great comedian.

      It’s ‘bouquet’ (Bucket)

She had brilliant timing kinda like Katherine Parkison.
      Great comedic awareness:)

She was brilliant, and I’m hoping to be able to watch some in the coming days. Fond memories of my father calling every woman with notions “Mrs Bouquet”.

I used to watch “Hetty Winthrop Mysteries” with a very young Dominic Monaghan back in the day

This post could have been written by me. And I also regret not going to her show in Galway a few years back. RIP.

One of the few times we as a family got together to watch something. She rules.

I watched KuA at the time and it was ok, some good bits usually involving her sister and very non working class in-law family then I watched it again two years ago on BBC 4 and it all made sense. In the end we all become a bit like husband Richard and neighbour Elizabeth!

Keeping Up Appearances was also a regular feature of Australian TV in the ’90s. We watched it as a family, and quoted it endlessly.

(While driving) “Mind the cows, dear”, (panicking) “where?!”, (rolling eyes) “in the field.”

Always loved episodes with Hyacinth’s family.

      RIP.

I think of her quite often, especially when I need a smile, and there was a wonderful compilation and interview she did on BBC Player where she spoke on her past roles including Keeping Up Appearances.

Today I had the hilarious song she sang while drinking the Dowager Lady Ursula’s homemade gooseberry wine in my head. It may have been a sign.

I’d like to share that my very first book on tape was Mrs. Tiggy Winkle by Beatrix Potter read by Patricia, and she introduced me to the world of narration. I must see if the audiotape is in my library or available online to get some good memories.

      Aw this makes me sad.

She was brilliant in Keeping Up Appearances, but she was well able to act in other things too.

I would recommend watching A Woman of No Importance, the “Kitty” monologues (they are hilarious) and even her old Corrie appearances from the early 60’s.

Keeping Up Appearances, One Foot In The Grave and The Last of The Summer Wine – the perfect accompaniments to a day off sick from school. R.I.P.
