Remember when the Republicans thought that the Feds owning shares of businesses was socialism?
Doesn’t really add up for Republicans. They usually push for free markets, not the government buying into foreign mines. Feels like overreach, not conservative principles.
What could possibly go wrong?
For the mining company or Greenland?
In an ethics agreement in November, Lutnick said he would step down from his role at Cantor Fitzgerald if confirmed. **In the hearing, Lutnick also pushed back against a report by the New York Times, raised by Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar, which highlighted a multimillion-dollar stake by Cantor Fitzgerald in Critical Metals Corp., which aims to start mining metals and minerals in Greenland — a territory that Trump has said is a “necessity” for the US to purchase.** The CEO said that the stake was tiny in the context of his business empire and that it was in return for helping take the company public. He added that he wasn’t even aware of the stake until this week. [note that Lutnick’s son Brandon is CEO of one of Cantor’s acquisition departments]
Mods… but but but… not “local” news?!
(OP, I don’t want your post removed, btw, I just find it funny the mods constantly deleted two of the most hot topics of the moment as “local” news, and this which also is local news – and also of interest to all of us, as the other two topics were as well, stays up)
Can someone tell them that just the state of Utah has more minerals than Greenland that nobody cares about.
