I’m very happy about it because there’s people who lost everything. But let’s make sure that money arrives where it needs to arrive and doesn’t stay in some politician’s pocket.

Well, the problem remains the same. Last week there were massive floods in Valencia, and now next week we have a forecast similar to last year’s.
Massive flooding today in Bulgaria, a few days ago in Marseille in France, Italy…
But we continue to apply band-aid solutions, without prevention or adaptation. Because for the economic elite, all this hurts business if it is prevented, as it reduces consumption and tourism. But they make money from reconstruction. In Valencia, there are already inflated contracts.
Valencia has never had a major case of corruption, so I can see this working alright

Excellent, now politicians can come back to deny climate change exists

I can perfectly see the Valencia’s administration distributing those funds between “friendly companies” and rising the salary of the officials, again.
Last week the national agency that keeps track of the weather and inform about risks already raised the alarm for massive rain and potential floods in the same area where the DANA happened last year. They had an emergency meeting to coordinate the response. Guess who wasn’t there.
AND the voters of the administration still voting for them.

Yeah that money is going straight into the corrupt politician’s and their construction buddies’ pockets. Good intentions but Valencia is infested with these roaches.

Let’s hope they don’t give the money to Carlos Mazón.

See how i posted on Valencia sub about the next week floods and a lot of people trying to say “there is no problem, it always happen” like 1 year ago to do not disturb the economy and tourism. Thats why they killed 230 of us and try to do the same with any emergency
1.6 billion and politicians still claim that environmental protection is too expensive

That’s a good thing. I hope the money goes to the people and not just businesses and local politicians friends and family.

On a related note, if this happened in the Philippines the aid will turn into Rolls Royce vehicles

The EU will help Valencia stay safe yet Spain does not want to help EU stay safe (military spending).

It’s amazing to me that when politicians do something good and try to make things better, the comments are full of people shitting on them. 2025 is wild and everybody’s bad even when they are good.

Does Spain actually care even the slightest about flood protection?
