    1. I’m not sure the EU will survive this populist wave. It’s also the dream for Putin. Dark times ahead.

But the question of coalition is still up in the air, right?

He looks like that PIS Polish guy, minus the moustache

Another politician who is doing everything he can to refuse aid to Ukraine and help Russia.

He is also part of the “Patriots for Europe” political group in EU parliament group.

Odd name for a bunch of people who want to fracture Europe and who are Russian shills.

I may very well get downvotes for this but the actual result is one of the better realistically achievable ones.

Yes, Babiš won, that’s not good. He is slightly anti-Ukraine, but he is also slightly pro-EU and pro-NATO. He is corrupt but he is hardly the worst option.

Babiš did **not** get enough MPs to govern alone without any other support.

Hard anti-EU, anti-Ukraine, anti-NATO, pro-Russia communists did **not** get enough votes to enter the chamber of deputies at all.

Our main anti-EU, anti-Ukraine and anti-NATO nationalist party did much **worse** than expected and likely will not get enough MPs to be able to form a coalition government with Babiš.

We could not expect our current strongly pro-Ukraine, pro-EU and pro-NATO government to win with the current economic situation and state of things in the country. A lot of people were afraid that with this election, the Czech Republic would turn dramatically towards the east. And that definitely did **not** happen!

We had the chance to regulate social media but the politicans were too naive. Now the spread of misinformation and extremely framed news has given rise to a whole ne class of populism – and it’s rising.

The EU needs to wake-up. Start being something that works for the people instead of coming up with BS like chat control, turning a blind eye to issues caused by migration, or creating stuff like emission trading that takes money from the general populace and gives it to rich flippers.

Unless the leaders of the EU start taking the concerns of the populace seriously, populists will have way too easy path to power.

Yet another dark day for the Czech Republic. While the Communist scum here didn’t get in and TEMU Trump got lower percentages than expected, Babiš is just like Fico and Orban, he will sell out his own country if Putin offers him enough money.

    9. Fun fact: He’s the second wealthiest person in the county (owns Agrofert, media corps, and others)

Before a bunch of lamenting Czechs come here:

Actually populist liberals. Pro EU, pro NATO, pro LGBT. Anti immigration.

Only one evil party (SPD) made it. Creepy neo-commies are out.

The Pirate party did very well.

The government negotiations will be very difficult.

      Not great not terrible results.

    11. How many more times will the boomer vote decide the fate of younger generations??

    12. Plus_Calligrapher_93 on

Will spd be in parlament, cause they are coalition, and there are under 8 percent threshold ?

    13. spitfire-haga on

At least the worst pro-Russian scum didn’t get enough votes to get into parliament. We have to be happy about little things.

    14. In the end, the results could be much worse. Babiš is a populist who will say whatever gives him votes. But he is mostly self-centered. He is focused on his own enrichment and doesn’t care about our country. Hell, he’s not even Czech.

But he didn’t do as good as they hoped for. He won’t be able to rule alone. And SPD (fascists) didn’t do well either, so even together, they won’t make the needed number of seats to rule fully.

      So is it bad? Yes.

      Is it catastrophic? No

Just 4 more years of corrupt government doing nothing for the country. But that’s what we’re used to anyway

    15. Blahuehamus on

Still much better results than what’s coming in next Polish elections

Mannnnn….the divisions in europe is crazy. I understand why Russia will alsays have the upper hand in eurooe. There is no united front in Europe. Reason Europe will never be a great power this century. Its bound to decline and be divided even more this coming decades.

is frightening how much the most ignorant and uneducated segments of society love populists like Babiš and Fico. They are just as stupid as in Hungary.

    18. heapOfWallStreet on

A sad news for Europe. Every populist vote is a vote for Putin’s propaganda.

    19. Every politician is populist. Calling that only those who you disagree or simply don’t like is hypocrisy and manipulation.

    20. bebbanburgismine on

Didn’t Pavel also said he would veto an anti-EU and anti-NATO coalition?

    21. That’s sad. Hungarians suffered their own babish for years. Czech people decided they want to suffer now.
