Funnily enough TISZA’s party leader said that next year after elections win for its party Hungary will start the euro accession process especially considering that 75% of population want euro adoption

    2. PledgedCharityMoney on

Is this the same guy who threatened Ukraine with the EU a few days ago?

    3. amhot577 on

Putin really has a fat fetish since majority of his recruits are fat and Obese💀

    4. darealmoneyboy on

Time to kick Hungary out, honestly. The people are brainwashed and Orban is not fit to rule.

Give them another 10 years and they will beg to get back into EU.

    5. Kreol1q1q on

I mean, you just have to look at how horribly the forint is doing in comparison with the Euro to see that having a national currency isn’t all that it’s jazzed up to be.

    6. Shot-Total-2575 on

Then he does not need EU money… And can give back the Million for his little house.

    7. Strandhafer031 on

Maybe it’s time for a EU 2.0. Loose some of the Corruptograds, get qualified majority voting and properly start a unified military.

    8. Tenocticatl on

Really flailing now, isn’t he? The biggest issue with the EU is people like him and the Brexiteers: never working along and blaming all the problems they themselves caused on Brussels.

    9. Gulliveig on

Proper federalism would make Hungary practically irrelevant.

Is there a way to implement a such without requiring unanimity?

    10. MercatorLondon on

Orban may say things to his audience but sadly Hungary is failing criteria for Euro adoption even if they wanted EURO. At the current conditions they can’t have it. It is that simple. He knows that so he is acting like he is the one who doesn’t want it. The noises he is making are to cover his mismanagement of the country.

      – Hungary does not fulfil the price stability criterion – its inflation (e.g. 8.4% in mid-2024) is much higher than allowed by the reference benchmarks
      – The budget deficit exceeded the 3%-of-GDP threshold in 2023, and there is no sign it is “close enough” or that the excess is temporary or exceptional.
      – Public debt is also well above the 60% reference value and does not meet the exchange rate stability requirement.
      – Institutional compatibility is not fully in line with eurozone criteria (not in ERM2)

It is not Euro falling apart but maybe Forint. If the Forint is such a rock why are Hungarians taking their mortgages in Swiss Francs?

This filthy beggar keeps biting the hand that literally feeds him #KickHimOut

If he believes that then he should be working on pulling Hungary out of the EU so he could get a head start on being outside it (and inside Russia’s sphere of influence).

We all know why he doesn’t do that (if he truly believes it):

      1. He would not be able to extract money and political concessions from the EU
      2. He would be unable to mess things up from the inside

    13. Haxemply on

Of course he would never join the Eurozone. His whole policy is hold up by forcing Hungarians to buy government bonds then devaluing the Forint faster than the Russian Ruble. If he couldn’t devalue the currency his whole system would collapse in weeks.

    14. AnarchiaKapitany on

      Well of course he does.

His modus operandi is shorting the Forint by making fucking insane statements to drive the exchange rate up, and with the adoption of the Euro that would no longer work.

    15. Sylveon_Mage on

EU is disintegrating, but Viktor still keeps Hungary’s ass glued on that chair in Brussels, odd how this works innit?

    16. other-work-account on

Following how it impacted Croatia, it will become obvious how misaligned EUR and Forint are. If Hungary adopts EUR, they will lose the ability to bleed additional funds via EUR-HUF exchange.

    17. Electronic-Bag-7900 on

The 2026 Hungarian election will decide whether their country continues its integration into the EU and NATO, or they will choose a “Huexit” and officially aligns Hungary with Russia. For the EU and NATO it’s a win-win situation either way.

    18. Due-Resort-2699 on

Sounds like he should jump from this this EU ship sinks then

    19. Szabolcs85 on

It’s not the only sign that his psychiatric state is on the decline…

    20. PabloRedscobar on

EU disintegrating is like that gif of a truck running at high speed towards a barrier. The right all around the continent has been talking about it for like 20 years, yet it never comes

    21. utsuriga on

Orbán is amazing at criticizing the EU over things caused, in a large part, by himself.

    22. From Hungary: Hi Europe! Please just ignore him whatever he says. Thanks

    23. -DanRoM- on

The EU is not disintegrating by itself. There are *people* actively doing the disintegrating. Orban is one of the prime examples himself.

    24. Tight-Ear-7368 on

Embezzlement of funds is much harder in euro. Also Orbán’s rule is disintegrating.

    25. Logical-Respect3600 on

Maybe it’s time for the news to have a dickhead filter: stop reporting what they say

    26. Says the leader who has effectively destroyed his country’s economy to a degree where it lies at the very bottom of all EU countries.

    27. kexmester on

Always the fuckers repeat the word disintegration who work hard in order to disintegrate and destruct. This guy really deserves a deportation to his wonderland called moscow.

    28. megselepgeci on

He can’t manipulate euro the way he can his own currency.

    29. SubstantialAttempt83 on

Probably be easier for him if Hungary adopted the ruble he wouldn’t have to pay much in the way of conversion rates on his political donations then.

    30. The one thing wrong with Europe is Orban. If he doesn’t like it, he can leave. But then he can no longer blackmail the EU for money I guess.

    31. BoY_Butt on

The EU is disintegrating? Well, why are they still part of it then?

    32. minhnt52 on

Orban isn’t doing much to hinder that alleged disintegration.

The EU ought to throw him out so he can freely join the Russian Federation. Good riddance!

    33. Antoinefdu on

“That house is on fire!” complains arsonist with the matches still in his hands.

    34. The only parts of EU that are disintegrating are Hungary and Slovakia…

    35. owlexe23 on

Orban is fascist private capital leech, he literally owns a castle estate which he bough from EU money probably. But EU has it’s faults also, the ECB and the euro aren’t democratic, it’s a centralized too much and is affected too much by the corporate/bank interests. The ECB is answering to the EU parliament, which we know is completely reliable on big capital interests, thus the *25,000 lobbyists* in Brussels.
