Belgium is not among the top 10 job markets in the first world countries in 2025!

As per my experience:
* unrealistic demands by employers.
* hiring process is a mess, ghosting candidates is a “norm”, multiple interviews with same questions asked by different people.
* saturation of market for white-collars.
* shortage of blue-collars (for various reasons, but mainly due to lower pay for the job they do).
* difficulty to enter job market due to language barriers (even inside Belgium for people born here).
Well, you would need to understand the reasoning of UpperClassCareer for their ranking, because they don’t seem to use pure stats to rank them.
My girlfriend has been a little bit over 10 months looking for a job as QA tester (she has over 4 years experience) and she doesn’t get any interviews despite having a basic dutch level and being native in english.
Whenever it seems favorable her way (Company values more her english proficiency) she gets hit with “We’ve found another candidate) despite the job offering being for a junior and her being a senior.
It’s horrible out there.
Partially demographic ageing in the proximity of the retirement age?
I would say higher unemployment is not necessarily bad, if offset by higher productivity and tax revenues. Tho I’m not sure that’s the case for Belgium.
We should learn from the countries higher up that list.
Been unemployed for 1y now. PO with 6y of experience in med tech space. 2 masters degrees. Either I’m overqualified or “unfortunately blah blah”. I’ve seen roles I’ve applied for be re-listed but they still won’t hire lol.
