There’s no call to be made. It’s black and white that he should stay on the ballot, but does not have to do any campaigning etc and can effectively consider it dead from here on out.

That said, having him off the ballot would ultimately stand to benefit FFG more than anything else, so I reckon there’s about a 60% chance they decide to roll with that instead.

It’s going to result in a lot of wasted votes if people cast a ballot for him, which a percentage will inevitably do.

I’m only speaking in the utterly hypothetical, but let’s say for example in some freak result he actually got elected, then what? Does he just have to not ever take up the office and we end up having to hold a second go at the election?

What happens to a ballot thats No.1 – Gavin and No.2 Connolly (for arguments sake) – Is that a spoiled ballot or a vote for Connolly?

Where is Micheal Martin at this critical moment in the affairs of the State? He’s had plenty of time recently to be commenting publicly on the “naivety of the Irish”, the Ploughing, and even the Kneecap lads… But today all we get from the Taoiseach is a deafening silence..!

I mean if he’s still on the ballot and any votes he receives are tallied than has he really dropped out?

      It’s more like he’s just stopped campaigning…🤔

He shouldnt be on the ballot, in my opinion

He has essentially indicated that he doesnt have the capacity, personally, to campaign for the position. If he cant campaign for it, he cant do it. Remove him from the ballot instead of having someone on the ballot who will not take up the position, if elected, and subsequently diminish the seriousness of the position. If FF want to now throw their support behind Heather Humphries, that’s their choice.

if they have to reprint FF should have to foot the printing cost.

They managed to get him removed from the giant billboard they erected in record speed. In fact it was only up 24 hours, another record? Poster gone, let’s see how long it takes the FF crew to take away all evidence?
