    1. Gavin is back in the running, this storyline is just too fucking good.

    2. “However, he said he would not be pursuing the matter.”

What an absolutely hilarious turn of events. Bringing down his presidential campaign in one fell swoop only to not pursue the matter any further.

Shamelessly under the bus, driven over, and then reversed over by our Taoiseach and his henchman Jack Chambers.

Gavin did a terrible thing, but the way he has been thrown aside is deplorable as well and telling. FF HQ have a brass neck. Scumbag behaviour all around.

Very diplomatic! I wouldn’t have given a fcuk that he was irate about me calling to his folks gaff.

Added context doesn’t really help, and if anything makes it a lot worse for FF. Sounds like it was well known amongst the media for years so I don’t buy for a second that the party weren’t aware

I genuinely don’t understand how it was so well known that it was being joked about in other parties and FF can claim not to have known

His lack of integrity surely makes him one of the most realistic politicians we have running

      >In a statement, Mr Gavin’s legal representative said: “We have reached out to Mr Donald and explained to him that we have been instructed to make the payment of €3,300 to him subject to clarifying two issues.

      >”We await hearing back from Mr Donald and once those two issues are clarified we can then proceed to close out on the matter.”

I really hope that he actually repays the man & this isn’t just yet another empty promise.

I like that he didn’t attempt to over-egg the custard – he knows it’s absolute dynamite, he’s a tabloid journalist and he could have gone completely dramatic but he doesn’t seem to be that kind of guy. He presented the facts, gave context, explained his own thoughts, was incredibly empathetic, he didn’t kick the man when he’s well and truly down. He seems really sound.

      1. Fianna Fáil (Micheal Martin and Jack Chambers) decided Saturday morning they would be dropping Jim Gavin.
      2. But they still let him go ahead with the Sunday debate.
      3. Gavin’s media prep should have been all over the imminent tenant question. And yet – the best he could say was “he needed to look into it”.
      4. NO political communications advisor worth their salt would have allowed their political rep go on air with that as an answer ……unless
      5. You wanted your candidate to effectively shoot the sleeves in the foot and make it easy to justify your Saturday decision to jettison.
      6. Gavin if he had any political instinct should have known that answer was tantamount to hari kari….
      7. Fianna Fáil are the shrewdest political machine out there and contrary to the nonsense here Martin is an exceptionally canny shrewd “cute hoor” politician – they knew full well well the ramifications of Gavin answering this question like this on a candidate debate…
      8. Gavin – if he doesn’t realise it – was absolutely shafted by Fianna Fáil albeit for a shitty mistake of his own making . He owes them nothing if there’s more to this story than what FF are spinning about the place….

I still don’t understand how he managed to pay double rent for a few months without noticing. Apparently it was his savings he was using? The whole story is so strange.
