I’m astounded this isn’t already a thing. You need a licence to sell alcohol and tobacco.
While vapes are no where near as harmful as either, discouraging kids to buy them and having proper checks in place should be standard.
Force the companies to sell them in plain packaging as well please, such an eye sore 😂
So we won’t see market stalls with these questionable brands then? If so I’m all for it
Do council staff and police have capacity for the sort of wide spread checks this will need? Or will a handful who are already under the spotlight with local authorities have this added onto their rap sheet?
It’s become a really trite observation nowadays to say “If alcohol had been invented today, it’d be rightly banned”.
Well…. Give it a few decades…
I’m not sure how I feel about the regulation of flavours. I’m an adult, and if I want to breathe in donut-flavoured vapour, that should be my choice. It’s interesting that no one, including the government, is calling for restrictions on alcohol flavours for the same reason. From pineapple gin to orange whisky, birthday cake vodka, and cherry rum, alcohol brands freely use sweet, fruity flavours in equally colourful bottles and graphics that could just as easily be said to appeal to younger tastes, yet that isn’t treated as a public concern.
There was such an amazing opportunity to use vapes as a means to help people stop smoking, a medical device to lower nicotine over time and get people off tobacco.
Conservatives, on the other hand, let capitalism set the pace, ignoring advice and allowing conmen to design and market vapes towards kids and idiots. Now vapes serve no purpose except profit. Anyone that said if you invented tobacco now, it would be banned, was so unbelievably wrong.
Now, with dementia don in power, and the Chinese pumping out random in verified peptides with tiktok Influencer’s saying to buy that shit, the same is going to happen with these new weight loss drugs.
I have come to a conclusion, our misery, pain, ill health, addictions and suffering is a form of control and coercion to keep us under control.
There was a newsagents near where I live that sold vapes, I was walking past and saw them near the sweets and chocolates and thought they were some new kinds of drink.
Went in and was like hi love, how much is that colourful drink near those sweets?
Then he looked at me like I had 2 heads, he replied they are not drinks, they are vape refills.
I couldn’t have got out fast enough feeling so embarrassed thinking they were drinks.
Was the colours that enticed me to go ask, love pretty colour drinks.
Surprised it wasn’t already required.
The other surprising thing is how no one is screaming about how regulating this particular industry is anti-business, or anti-progress.
They should honestly be treated almost like cigarettes, make it so places needs to put them behind a glass cabinet as well. The amount of vape stuff that is stolen from shops by kids is insane. The local corner shop has been selling dodgy vapes for years, and I’ve seen them sell them to kids
Making nicotine restricted would close the loophole of it being legal to sell children stuff like that fake snus as well
