Vorrei chiederti come devo procedere?

If you weren’t actually *living* in Frankfurt during the months of January and February, you shouldn’t have been registered there. You do not need to be registered in a place you are not living in, even if you are still renting it.

I don’t know if this is possible to fix now, of course.

How can you be registered in both places? I thought that you are automatically de-registered from current place, once you registered in a new place.
I recently moved, and registered to the new place only, without de-registering from the old place. Will I get the same ?
Sorry, if I am hijacking the post

Yes. As the letter states: “Auf die tatsächliche Nutzung der Wohnung kommt es nicht an.” That is, whether you actually lived there is not of interest. For the tax, it’s sufficient that you could’ve stayed there if you so wished (“tatsächliche Verfügungsmacht oder rechtliche Verfügungsbefugnis”).

BTW, pragmatic approach (and I know some might object to it ;): How much is it, does it say? According to the letter the tax is 10% of your yearly rent (just rent, without Nebenkosten). Now divide this by 6. What’s the amount? Now you can decide: If too much bureaucratic limbo is involved to fix this, you could pay and do something better with your free time. But first try if it can be fixed by a simple call or mail to them.
