Was the tesco CEO not whining the other day how people still have a cost of living mentality?

yer sure. It’s nothing to do with the eyewatering CEO pay-outs, increasing vertical monopolisation and collusion of corporate greed.

UK taxpayers question why they have to subsidise Tesco’s profits via in work benefits for their staff.

Cue that video of the supermarket chief exec singing _”we’re in the money”_ a few years ago on a hot mic before a TV interview.

They’re not exactly going to blame themselves though are they.

Edit: “They” being the supermarkets. “Blame” being take any accountability of their own actions.

These supermarket bosses are being paid upwards of £9million per year. They could only be paid that much if they were fleecing their customers with profit margins higher than they ought to be.

    7. Would be believable if they wernt all posting huge profit increases.

It might be believable if the supermarkets weren’t all profitable.

I blame the Tory government, that brought us Brexit and the worst food trade deals thereafter…

Yet companies like Tesco made over 6 billion pounds in profit during 2024/25.

The real question is, why are they artificially inflating prices and then offering you the lower price if you agree to give over your personal details with a special membership card?

    11. 0 regulation and to many members of the government jumping to the boards of these big supermarket chains, utility companies etc…
      Make regulation mean something again.

God forbid a company makes a lower profit than last year. Might as well close if you don’t have endless growth.

What a stupid system. Any profit should be a sign of a good business. But no endless greed forever
