What is this replacing exactly? Was this not already the case?

There appear to be a lot of them.

People who grow up in communities where anti-semitism is just the norm to the point they don’t even seem to understand as an adult how unsavoury some of the shit they are saying or tweeting is. It’s bizarre.

      >A Department of Health source said it was “ridiculous that medics are free to continue operating with impunity until a tribunal can be held”, adding that Mr Streeting was “furious with the glacial pace the system operates at”.

I don’t think the correct move here is to assume guilt before suspension (unless the damage is paramount), but to speed up the tribunals? If this goes ahead we could get a lot of unproven claims of racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, etc by bad faith patients or colleagues.

And if they are found innocent when they get their hearing, will they be receiving back pay and a public apology? Will there be some sort of damages awarded for the inevitable career derailment caused by being tarred a racist before trial?

There’s a reason we presume innocence until guilt is proven.

If you take a look on her twitter/x account, you see the accusations has merit.

Anyone accused of racial intolerance should be suspended with pay before tribunal … why isn’t this already the case?

This movement would have been far better served with some self policing as if it looks like things are settling down, a lot of heated comments will be a lot less justified in a post conflict world than when the most apocalyptic and over the top responses were being celebrated.

When the heat comes out of this, a lot of people are going to be regretting how much they let their passion reveal their true beliefs. Case in point above.

Surely they should face a tribunal first to prove the claims against them

Seeing her Twitter/X this can’t come soon enough. Foul stuff.
