If he wanted to do hard work he wouldn’t be there. And they gave him form to fill out
Dole office final boss
Here’s a fair punishment: he is no longer entitled to the dole, and can not be allowed on job seekers for 5 years, or until he’s had a steady job for 2.
Do that to every scumbag. The dole is privilege paid for by the people. Not an entitlement.
I know a guy like this. He grew up directly across the street from me and was in my class in Primary school, we born a few weeks apart.
He was dyslexic and used to kick off when he was struggling, like shouting, running away, hitting etc, so instead of helping him, the schools used to let him go out with the caretaker instead.
I met him about 5 years ago in the RSA Centre to get licences renewed and he had to ask me for help because he couldn’t read the instructions.
I think of him often because we had the exact same upbringing and the exact same opportunity for education up to a certain point, but because he was struggling, the school completely fucking failed him because it was just easier than the hassle of working with him and getting him diagnosed with whatever else the poor fella had going on.
This was in the 90s also, I’m in my 30s now.
Also, I’m not at all saying people should kick in offices, I’m just offering a perspective.

While we’re working hard to support this.
The way public facing people are treated in this country is just absolutely appalling. Standards need to rise dramatically otherwise no one will want to do it.
We also need to look at a pivot away from excessive paperwork and verification when dealing with what I’d call “survival” cash. Very often the people who need money the most, need to jump through the most hoops, and even though they might not be traditionally illiterate, they might well be functionally illiterate when it comes to form filling and record gathering and keeping.
A common sense approach to identity and income verification along with deeper integration of the PSC card would save a lot of time, effort and hassle. Very often the time you need cash most is when you visit the social welfare office and being handed more forms isn’t good practice anymore – direct cash transfer is the way to solve poverty.
