I’m not sufficiently informed as to how delirium works, but it’s a terrible shame that they can’t temporarily relieve it, even if for an hour, to get informed consent. I believe the judge’s decision is the right one, but it’s still going to be an extremely traumatic realisation when the gent comes to his senses after surgery.
That’s a tough read….the poor guy.
I don’t know what the test is for this type of decision. But if it’s anything like “any reasonable person would make this decision “ then sounds fine.
Sounds like diabetes causing the necrotic tissue, but it could be a lot of things.
A lad I know from drimnagh because a fire fighter in Chicago. Diabetes is rampant in the African American community, he went to a lot of houses and had to lift people with necrotic tissue. Told me a horror story once of an older man whose entire leg degloves below the knee….
A similar case a couple years back went the other way – it’s reassuring to see the courts actually addressing these things and not just waving important issues through.
Interesting.
An almost identical case like this happened last year too but the patient was allowed to die even though a simple surgery would save them
Left or right?
Left, or right?
Left….. or right….
