      Everyone is holding their breath for the next doom budget and tax hike. No company is making a move right now.

      I mean when you look at the data monthly, you’d expect the months shortly after the months where wage growth rose a lot because of changes to the minimum wage to be relatively low. It’s regression to the mean

      This is a bit misleading when just comparing GBP to the USD. Headline should be USD has best week against most major currencies including the Pound. (the Euro was the notable exception).

      Yes GBP fell against the USD last week, but so did many other currencies, and many fell more than the pound did.

      So conversely last week the pound had its best week against the NZD, reaching a 10 year high, and also surged almost 2% up against the Aussie dollar.

      Rising employers National Insurance was always going to have this effect

      To pay you £1,000 it costs a business £1,150 now. If the tax was not there you would get most of that £150, and there would not be such high unemployment
