Have they addressed the error of repeatedly platforming Farage?

“Digital natives” those are the programs that spontaneously evolved independently rather then being created by humans in the Tron movies right?

This will only get worse as people raised on Twitter Facebook etc become figures of power within all media and public life generally.

The ability to query at a gut level will be gradually eroded until we’re all utterly gullible and lazy.

I won’t call Social Media faultless but surely the whole point of a news show like this would be to verify stories like this before airing? Whether they’ve come from print media or social media?

    5. I’d argue if you’re a true digital native, you know to check and verify sources – digital numpty might be more appropriate

    6. If only the BBC could contact a large news organisation.

I know it’s made by Hat Trick, but surely given the nature and popularity of the programme they could contact the BBC.

We really have an issue in this country with simple verification not being used. The first answer, thought or information presented is assumed to be correct.

Noticing it with young people at work. “Well I assumed it would be painted blue as this bit is also blue”

“ok but how could you test that assumption is correct”

“I could look in the paint spec”…..”I’ll check the paint spec”….”it should be yellow”.

I really don’t remember having to deal with this stuff with young ones who started prior to two years ago.

This is just a new way of blaming the most junior employee for a cock up someone more senior should have spotted.

Digital natives seem to be the ones with more common sense and critical thinking online. It’s older people who share bullshit with no flicker of critical thinking about it, or mistake complete AI slop for real life.

This idea that a generation of people can be summed up by the idiotic actions of a few in that generation is such an insufferable standpoint.

It’s not “Digital Natives” in a “New Generation”- it’s that you were too stupid to hire producers and writers who have the common sense to fact check their own work before it goes on a national comedy news show.

A poor leader blames their staff. Do better. There should’ve already been fact checking procedures in place and that falls on the executives.

Not checking at all before repeating something on tv seems crazy to me, but this whole thing does just go to show how misinformation is really taking hold on the internet. It’s getting very difficult to tell, and when you do check, things might have gone viral and have been repeated across multiple platforms, seeming to add to the plausibility of it. At the same time, real news is frequently outright bizarre at the moment, in the Trump era, so having that basic level of doubt and disbelief about everything ironically makes it harder to discern what’s truthful.
