      Only me, it seems šŸ˜‰
This project is a wild ride but at least it is moving forward, albeit with a lot of hiccups and while they pushed backwards full double track layout and the direct connection to Riga and Vilnius, at least they have kept the designated corridor speed.

The tunnel to Helsinki is something I would not hold my breath for though. 2035 is complete wishful thinking.

    2. whats the average speed for this line? If its below 200kmph i dont want it.
We need High speed lines between capital cities.

I fucking love European rail. I want it expanded and improved infinitely. I wanna see all those stupid subsidies we give airlines get absorbed into European railways to the point where rail travel becomes the cheapest, most convenient and practical way of travel in Europe, especially internationally. I wanna jump on a train in Brussels and be in Helsinki in 12 hours. I wanna fall asleep in Rome in the morning, and wake up in Madrid by lunchtime.Ā

I would already celebrate a high speed line from Berlin to Warsaw.

I would love the tunnel to happen but I’m very doubtful. I also find it very unlikely that it would be ready by 2035.

Respectfully, is there a distinct cultural, philosophical, spiritual, temperal or temperature difference between any of those places?

A tunnel between Tallinn and Helsinki would be a great addition to Rail Baltica. The EU should definitely fund it.

Tallin helsinki tunnel is not exceped to go through lmao. Theres probably less than 1% change its going to happen in the next 50 years. Finland or estonia obviously cant afford it, and eu is not going to pay for it. Who is exactly going to be paying the 30+ billion € for it?

I actually am. Would love to take train from Tallinn to rest of the Europe. Even when it requires a few hours in ferry from Finland. I hate flying.

The Helsinki-Tallinn tunnel will definately not open around 2035, and i am unsure whether they will build it or not.

Also i expect more delays on the core project. There is no chance there will be a standard gauge train operating between Warsawa and Tallinn in 2030…

I love it, and I am not even in EU. I am Georgian and I hope than one day my country will also have such amazing infrastructure.

I’ll believe that tunnel when I see it. There are always plans to build the world’s longest tunnel or the world’s biggest bridge etc etc and (unless you’re in China) they hardly ever come to pass.

    13. This is phenomenal

Going to do wonders for Baltics tourism and economies

God please make Europe implement night trains with decent price. I would never fly the air again.

    15. I’m waiting for the Vilnius-Minsk-Kyiv branch to open šŸ™‚ We just need to do some reorganizing in Minsk before we can start.

The entire Tallinn-Warszawa is quite a long journey for a train to compete with flying. Ideally you would want even faster rail for that but still very much viable of course. But for shorter trips like Tallinn-Riga it’s going to be great.
