And so he ended up in jail, again, and had to issue another call for aid from his followers to fight the power… only to plea guilty, get out early and immediately book a holiday somewhere that will still let him in.

As much as he’s a despicable human I don’t think refusing to provide a phone pin should be held against him. The police should have no more rights to the contents of ones phone than they do the contents of ones head. I.e. none.

He’s a top class prick but terrorism, really people, this is what we use it for?!

    4. complexpug on

Good for him! I wouldn’t hand mine over either if you want to look at my phone contents I’ll see you in court. Now there’s nothing on it apart from car/cat pictures but it’s mine & it’s private

We are going down a slippery slope in this country

A twice convicted fraudster who travels on fake passports would never reveal what’s on their phone, but he’d demand that his followers attack an immigrant that declined to give police access to their phone.

Not a fan, but I don’t like that they appear to have prevented him recording the interaction either

“you look like cunts so you ain’t having it”

      I’m stealing this lmao

Tommy is a twat but password disclosure laws are fucking obscene.

      > Under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act, the person who is detained can be held for up to six hours, is legally obliged to answer questions, and must provide the password or PIN for electronic devices or be held to have committed a criminal offence if they refuse.

He’s garbage, but this law is absolute bullshit. No country which considers itself to be democratic or to support human rights should have a law like this.

Most democracies started with strong laws to protect the privacy of people’s mail and personal papers, somehow governments have decided that it doesn’t count if it’s digital and not written on paper.

Compare the serious laws about messing with postal mail, vs this nonsense with Chat Control.

I have a lot of criticisms of the US, but their 5th Amendment is gold, more countries should have an equivalent. But even they decide to ignore it at borders.

He should just not be allowed in the EU.

He is Nazi. He did want Brexit and yet he still is in Benidorm (which contrary to common believe is in Spain)

Tommy Robinson is a cunt but this is one thing I would stand with him on.

He needs his phone to organise his nosebag the second he gets off the plane in wherever his fanboys fund his next holiday.

Never mind the phone pin business, you’d get quite probably get flagged for carrying that much liquid crossing over borders.

    14. Technical_Rice_7480 on

Makes not a shred of difference. If police have the power, they can download the phone anyway without the need for the pin. Just means it will take longer for Tommy ten names to get his phone back!

      >Robinson told police he would not give up the PIN for his phone because he did not want them to see his “journalist material”.

      He’s not a journalist.

      >“It’s my work, I’m a journalist,” he said, adding that the phone held information about “vulnerable girls”.

Considering how many of his EDL friends are doing time for being pedos I really hope that isn’t a euphemism.

    16. MACHinal5152 on

I think that what a lot of commenters are missing is that the UK border force was trying to compel him to reveal his pin whilst EXITING the country. It is contrary to Article 8 of the human rights act. Border force do not have these powers under the Customs and Excise Management act 1979, it is a clear overreach on the officers part. You might not like Tommy Robison, but this should not be allowed to set precedent.

Just a reminder that Tommy Robinson is his stage name, his real name is Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon. And he’s a millionaire.

    18. InterestingWin3627 on

The irony of him being an immigrant that is not complying with local laws.

    19. SteveG5000 on

Did they really have to get the PIN number to his mobile device? Couldn’t they just have shaved his eyebrows off and let him on his way?
