      Ahh Paul Murphy

A TD you should vote for if you want to reject anything and everything

I don’t like Paul Murphy. There’s something dead about his eyes. He never has anything constructive or positive to say or do. He seems like a proper zealot as well.

    3. Anyone got a full text of the article? It would be nice to know the reason for the objection

The objector in chief. Paul Murphy has to be one of the biggest hypocrites in the dail

    5. His objection is entirely warranted. Though I can already see the usual suspects shooting their guff off here due to their general dislike of the man. The proposed development removes access to over half of what is currently a public green space and makes it a private fenced floodlit area. It’s also irresponsible, frankly to persist with installing plastic pitches given the climate crisis. They need to start planning their season around when pitches are dry. Why not have the season through the summer when the conditions are perfect on grass, instead of complaining that they are too muddy and dark over winter. It’s daft.

      >The letter said residents had reported that bats were regularly seen in the park and the development “would undoubtedly cause a decline in biodiversity”.

This is getting ridiculous. No sports facility for the children then so

Paul: There’s not enough amenities for young people shame on the government!

Also Paul: Objects to every local amenity being planned

Seems reasonable enough. Bat thing is a strech but synthetic pitches need to be done away with plus the fences really lock areas away which isn’t great.

I’m not a fan of the guy at all, but you can’t say the reasons for objecting have no basis. I volunteer with my local Tidy Towns group and picking up stray pieces of artificial grass is a real bugbear.

Astroturf is a nightmare locally. It’s easy to maintain for the pitches but bits come off and get blown about. It’s not good for the end of environment and there is good reason to object against this.

A public green space lol, its a field that ppl walk through as quickly as they can as its pitch dark and unuseable 8 months of year. And the only biodiversity there are rats.

Dont be fooled by the 500k price tags of the surrounding houses. Its a kip 😆.

The thing is we need sports clubs to have facilities like this also the point about locking it up while valid, the amount of vandalism that happens when it is not locked is an issue… Also what happens if you have a training session planned for 7, but some of the local scumbags have decided they want to play a game ? And wont move

    13. Him objecting is fine. His objection noted and moving on should also be fine.

We need a REAL conversation in this country about where our priorities lie.

Scandalous investment in football for kids in this country considering it’s the biggest sport and most participated in.

Him and his wife are perfect examples of why the general planning system is broken. There needs to be a focus on serving the general good

    14. I live on St James, and I’ll be honest – I’m objecting because in its current form its going to be an absolute nightmare to live with. The light and noise issues aside, the parking is going to cause murder.

One of the easiest ways to describe this is – go to google maps, look at all the roads around Greenhills, and check how much parking there is. SFA. Its already a nightmare, and this will just exacerbate it.

Honestly – if it was a new set of houses replacing the green I’d be sad, but ok. But putting in something that has to be paid for to use, taking from a public space, just gets me.
