If they follow the protype and build an anonymous age check process like there is in some European countries for a very long time, I think that’s a reasonable approach.

The age checks aren’t to protect kids. As the article states, there are laws already made for that, which sanitised social media, and there’s already parental guidance and controls pre-installed on devices. Children are just an excuse to make us give away our identity to access any information. Why would the UK battle Wikipedia if not to censor and make the editors lose their precious anonymity? Plus, not everyone is the same, some kids should be held back from certain things, while others can be trusted by their parents. I could watch all sorts of action movies as a kindergartener without taking away any bad behaviour from there, meanwhile my nephew acted out all the moves he saw wrestlers do (thankfully, he never got hurt).

Also, let’s not forget that Belgium banned Tom & Jerry due to “violence” and Germany had all sorts of cartoons and anime heavily censored (floating Zabuza because his huge sword was erased from existence).

Once again Denmark with the retarded bullshit – what’s up with that country recently?! They’re out to lead the EU on a speedrun to ruin itself.

I guess VPNs are about to become even more mandatory?

Go after fucked-up social media, not porn. Entire Polish Facebook is an anti-Ukrainian sewer, yeah as Russia wages a hybrid war against us and Ukrainians very bravely fight for their own country, that’s exactly the message we need. There are pages posting the current weather on Facebook in Polish and the comments are all anti-Ukrainian lol. It’s an information war and we’re losing it.

That is madness. Twitter is a fucking far-right madness. Leave porn alone lol, go after the real problems.

It baffles me that in an age of rising economic issues, climate change, and a war on Europe’s borders – the leaders of the EU nations are more focused on destroying the privacy of the internet.

    7. If they can come up with a way of proving your age without showing your id i’m all in with them… until then, fuck this bullshit

    8. araujoms on

We should never have allowed boomers to find out about the internet. They must destroy absolutely everything that was good.

Genuinely, who’s benefiting from this. Voters don’t want it, it doesn’t work, it’s a security nightmare. Who’s profiting? Surely NordVPN are not secret Illuminati

You laughed at us, now you will suffer with us. It’s like we never left lol.

In all honesty tho, I really do prefer the EU age verification method rather than the UK. EU method includes verifying ur age to an EU backed digital platform, that will then tell websites “18+” or “13+” or anything, doesn’t send any extra information.

If the data gets stolen, all hackers will be able to see is whether you meet a certain age or not. I actually trust the EU to delete data rather than private companies, which they don’t evident by the discord leak

Disturbing part is that they cover actual goals under “age checks”. In the worst countries, exactly that is foundation – official government always lie for real goals of new laws. Mentioning something about childrens is a red flag for dozens of manipulation types. Lies became the default functioning mode.

There is small and unclear chance that online privacy must be stopped for EU survival, but it never should be hidden under “age checks”. EU must clearly state, for example, that there is 100% proven evidence for anonymous destructive international influence and there is no other option, but to TEMPORARY remove concept of privacy.
Good actions should not be covered with misleading reasons.

Great. Something has needed to be done for a long time.

Why the fuck is this a thing. The web should not be childproofed because some parents cant control their Child.

    14. Privacy is dead and has been for years. You guys are clinging onto an outdated concept.

    15. Do we have anymore information on what this declaration means?
