*it was horrific what happened, but once again the law abiding insurance payer picks up the tab for a reckless scrambler*
The couple had sued the Motor Insurer’s Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) and Dublin City Council. The driver and owner of the scrambler motorbike were later joined as co-defendants and judgement was secured against them in default of appearance. The MIBI was in the case as there was no insurance in place for the motorbike driver.
Counsel told the court the issue between the MIBI and Dublin City Council had been resolved and the case against the council could be struck out. The settlement of Mr Avetian’s case and costs are against the MIBI.

I hate these little shits on bikes. It wasn’t a scrambler but some shit head on one of the heafty electric bikes attempted to flatten me last week on the Quays in Dublin. I was crossing the road and he busted through the lights doing a wheelie. I sped up the to get over and he lowered the wheel, directed the bike at me and wheelied again trying to hit me probably going 25 to 30k an hour. Narrowly dodged it.

I don’t give a shit that he was “only” 16, the scumbag who did this should be in jail for decades.

Just like you need to be a member of gun club to buy a gun, you should be required to be a member of a motorsport organisation to buy a scrambler.

Animal bastards, no compensation will ever be enough for them.

r/motoireland knows for a long time that our stolen bikes will be weapons in the hands of reckless thieves. We also pay taxes so these compensations can be paid when thieves end someone’s life with our stolen bikes.

This is so bad. I was in hospital with someone else given life changing injuries from a scrambler and honestly it was so harrowing. Multiple surgeries were involved and the person was so delirious and calling for their child and calling for help. They couldn’t eat. And this case is even worse
