I like the initiative to darken the night sky again, particularly given the projected energy savings, but I’ll miss the beautiful warm glow when walking at night.

Honestly, fix the lights and the pavements and English streets (especially London) becomes 50x more beautiful overnight.

I wonder how dazzling the light will be. LED lighting in car headlights is awful so are we going to get the same thing on street lighting?

I know this is about the Isle of Man, but same question wrt ‘dark sky’ lighting.
Do these lights impact wildlife?
I’m sure I’ve read that ‘whiter’ lights tend to make wildlife think it’s daytime, but could be misremembering. The only things I can find with a quick search are related to companies that sell lighting, and show pictures of down-pointing lights and ‘dark skies’ above.

The requirements for “dark sky” approval are already part of the existing lighting design Standards apart from blue light emission reduction which makes no sense as it’s been debunked.
There is nothing wrong with the lighting design Standards as they currently stand.
More approvals for exactly the same thing you would be getting anyway is just money for old rope.

Now this is something I can get behind! Light pollution really irks me for some reason. Wish we could spread this across the country
