I’ve never seen political leaders in this country work so hard for far-right football hooligans from another country before.
If there was a football club that had a group of ultras who sang ‘death to Jews’ at away games, Starmer would be doing everything he could to get them banned from entering the country.
This is the hierarchy of racism for all to see.
Surely Starmer has to recognise how awful this is gonna look for him if he forces this ban to be lifted and they inevitably show up and cause carnage.
Not that he cares, I guess. He has the Israeli government’s boot so far down his throat that he thinks letting in a bunch of hooligans matters more than public safety
A violent hooligan fanbase of Israelis coming into a city where there are plenty of pro-Palestinian Muslims especially in the local area around the ground, and a Christmas market to boot where there’s outside drinking so the Police also need to on guard for that. It’s a sound decision.
Unfortunately this is a political hot potato involving obscene comments from an elected MP who seems to gloat he got Israeli fans banned and a PM who doesn’t seem to understand the tensions in the local area.
I’m utterly astonished at the response. I hope it gets over turned and is a complete disaster, just to see how the idiots calling for this defend it
Absolute madness from the Labour party and Police commissioner. Firstly, leaving all the politics out of it, the Police have looked at this and very sensibly decided that the risks are way to high to ensure public safety.
If it goes ahead with the Maccabee fans present either they are going to go looking for a fight and either hurt people or get hurt themselves, and the Police know they’ll end up with the blame.
Secondly, politically, Labour seemed determined to lose MPs and council seats in Birmingham. The reform areas 100% are never coming back, so why on earth would you make sure you handed the Muslim vote to independents or Corbyn/ Sultana (if they ever launch a party).
Backing Israel every time has gained them nothing and cost them massive core support. It’s not like you can look at all the dead children in Gaza and say they did it because it was the moral choice.
We regularly allow ultras to come to England that cause issues from countries like the Netherlands, France and Germany that require immense police resources. Why should this be any different?
Maybe we should go the whole hog and just make Netanyahu prime minister of the UK at this stage? We are simply a vassal to a much smaller nation.
Good luck with that. It’s Villa’s ground and they can refuse/bar anyone they want. As long as they’re saying it’s safety reasons and not because they’re Jewish it’s completely up to them who they allow in their own stadium. If the police are saying that thousands of travelling supporters are gonna cause chaos if they’re locked out then all they’re doing is proving Villa’s decision to be entirely correct.
What an absolute joke. I live in Amsterdam and these cretins caused a ton of public damage along with assaulting the general public and specifically targeting Muslims.
If they were ANY European country, they would have been banned for their previous behaviour.

I’ve got no problem with the fans being banned from the game, but do we make a had of banning all fans of other clubs that cause problems?
This decision will literally put British citizens in danger.
I am actually astounded that this has been the governments response, I simply cannot understand it.
Starmer will continue to drop in the polls for this completely out of touch response, how can you back a bunch of thugs over your own police force.
