Lmao, Putin’s jet ain’t no Harry Potter flying car, bro. It’s gotta follow international law just like everyone else.

No one is going to arrest a leader like Putin while he is on his way to peace negotiations.
What a retarded precedence to set for the future.
And it would literally add nothing positive but just
rally the Russians even more.

Why is Europe wishing so hard that there are no peace talks? And that they fail?

Planes get shot out of the sky all the time

No one is gonna shoot the jet down so yes

Nothing is gonna happen lol are Redditors seriously expecting European countries to shoot down putins jet?
This is the same thign when netanyahu flew to usa, an icc war criminal comfortably using our airspace since no one dares to shoot it down

I just hope it’s mistaken for one of those drones he likes so much.

It’s going to be his bodydouble. No worries. Real Putain stays in his cellar.

I hope we don’t, you know, accidentally, *cough* mistake his plane for a stray drone and IRIS-T it.

He should just fly over Ukraine. Im sure nothing bad will happen :).

Legit to shoot it down, claim it was a plane fault it’s one of his own tricks
super_sammie on
Better to get him on the way back so he either confirms Russia was at the negotiations or admits to sending a double.
Sanctions should go as far as not reading at all with anyone opposed to the “west’s views”
I’m not saying the west is correct but rather isolationism is just fine.

I doubt Putin will fly over an European country without gurantees that his flight wont be forced down.

Nobody’s going to kill Putin. Imagine the fucking chaos.

Why is this even a topic? Of course he’ll be allowed to fly there, and of course he’ll be granted immunity for the duration of the negotiations. Anything else would be nonsense. All these comments insinuating to shoot the plane down are absolutely insane.

Unless he is given a specific permission, every country who is a member of the International Penal Court should detain him, and that includes flying over those countries. That is why Netanyahu did that weird travel to get to the US, to avoid any country that would try to detain him. (We’re looking at you, Greece and Italy…)
That is what the law say. Would they try to? My money says no. Why? Because they’re fucking bitches.

Recall when Colombian president Evo Morales’ plane was forced to land in Austria because US intelligence thought Ed Snowden was on board?

This is what happens. Putin flies peacefully to Budapest, EU or any other country will do absolutely nothing to interfere his flight, they talk nonsense in Budapest and negotiations leads to nowhere, Trump thanks everyone for very productive meeting, Putin flies back to Moscow without any problems. War continues.

EU can impose trade sanctions on Hungary. Make it known ahead of time. There is no excuse for an in person meeting in any country. Unless ofc the batteries are running low in the Donald’s remote control from puppeteer Putin. Heard of the telephone?

Not on the way out, arresting someone going to “peace talks”, even when those talks are in bad faith, isn’t a great look. When he’s on his way back, after demanding Ukraine surrenders unconditionally, again, then maybe, if he doesn’t take a different route.
Remeco on
Nobody will shoot him down, but at the same time, I doubt they will take a way through Ukraine or Poland. Maybe through Romania? A unified “EU air space” is not really a thing to begin with.

You can’t let a war criminal use your skies and still pretend to stand for human rights. It’s that simple

NATO just now started to think that maybe shooting drones and rockets that fly over their territory is somewhat of maybe a good idea . And no EU or Western leader has a spine to deal with any sort of consequences from actions that are not premeditated , discussed with 15 conferences and few rounds of veto-enabled votes .
Once again : *Nothing ever happens.*

He’ll be ok in Serbian airspace, and Turkey has been pretty easy on him, so needs to somehow cross Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro or Albania? I suspect he’ll avoid Romania being so close to Ukraine.
I’m guessing, Russia > Turkey > Bulgaria > Serbia > Hungary
