Fierce battles, among the heaviest of the war, rage on the Pokrovske front. The 1st Assault Regiment Da Vinci is holding the defense here. Infantrymen of the Shkval battalion repel Russian attacks and carry out counteroffensive actions every day.
The Russians are trying to advance deeper using infiltration tactics, slipping past the defensive lines, cutting off supply routes, and striking the flanks. These tactics involve small infantry groups moving stealthily, avoiding direct combat to exhaust Ukrainian defenses ahead of larger assaults.
The Da Vinci soldiers have captured several enemy combatants sent for such missions. One of them, Serhii from Omsk, 60 years old, said he came “to earn some money” to buy a new car:
“Russia promised I wouldn’t take part in assaults, only deliver ammo. They lied,” the captured enemy combatant complained.
Another captured enemy combatant, Ruslan from Ufa, 34, was supposed to infiltrate deep behind Ukrainian lines, but surrendered along the way, likely making one of the best decisions of his life.
“Despite the enemy’s significant numerical advantage, we’ve managed to build a system that allows us not only to maintain active defense but also to conduct assault operations in which enemy losses far exceed ours,” said Perun, commander of the 1st Assault Regiment Da Vinci.
