Somebody tell her the young talk a good game but somehow don’t vote in enough numbers to make a difference.
Connolly will win but it won’t be anything like the poll difference and the turnout will be a record low probably.
Jesus that headline is desperate

It’s actually one of the major things Connolly has in her favour and is increasingly drawing me towards her.
It’s actually surreal that she’s still in contention for my vote. She shouldn’t be given what her views are on Syria and Ukraine (and her views on defence more broadly), but I can’t also see myself voting for someone who is has rural, backwards views on things like foxhunting and drink driving, and in my view didn’t do enough for the family of a cyclist killed by a man who was a dodgy garda informant.
It’ll probably come down to who I’m willing to be more forgiving of. I actually think Connolly has grown up more than what Humphreys has, and is altogether a smarter operator. Humphreys is too Irish Countrywomens Association. Too Mammyish. As soon as that poor lad was killed she should’ve been out for that family like the lightning bolt and calling for justice and if she was smart, she could’ve got a few extra million for cycle lanes in Cavan and Monaghan to help prevent repeat incidents. But no, just the usual rural guff.
What are the chances that young people don’t turn up to vote & CC doesn’t get elected?
She’s good at Irish but supports Russia. Not a difficult decision. Never go for fluff over substance, your children’s futures are at risk.
She hasn’t really spoken out as much against Russia as she could’ve been doing imho; that’s more of a factor for me. Zelenskyy himself said “I don’t need a ride, I need ammunition”, and Connolly strikes me as someone who wouldn’t be in favour of providing the latter – seems against Europe having its own capacity, at least.
There’s a wider context where I don’t think her Presidency would best fit. Change of stance on the above and I probably would be a supporter though.
Can’t help but thinking these headlines are to frighten the horses of middle Ireland into voting. I would be very surprised if the vote translates into a landslide especially with the potential for Gavin protest votes
