It’s positive to see a minister with first hand experience of what the trans community deals with. I hope she makes some good progress on the lives of trans adults and children.

Mary Butler is an interesting one.
She was in favour of keeping the 8th but has unwavering support for trans rights given its close to her.
Maybe she’s changed tune but I recall her being fairly conservative on social issues over the years to the point my parents even stopped giving her a pref in elections cause of it

Varadkar’s article spoke out against opponents who “spout myths on sport”?
Can anyone explain what myths he is referring to too?

It’s absolutely terrifying the psychology behind so many people caring so much about a subsection of society the vast, vast majority have never knowingly engaged with in person in this country.
The extreme definition of a moral panic

She sent me a card when my father died. Didn’t know she knew who my father was but I respected the the sentiment.

It’s fucking mental that most people in Irish society won’t encounter a trans person or be negatively affected by them in any way at all but the general public can still be so opinionated on the subject.
It’s extremely unlikely a trans person has stopped your granny getting a hospital bed, they haven’t stopped your child getting a place in school or on a sports teams, they are not in your kids school trying to indoctrinate into some mad beliefs, they are not going into bathrooms to stare at other people’s privates. It’s unlikely they have robbed you or caused you any harm.
They are an incredibly small section of society who don’t seem to do much harm at all but have somehow become the main talking point in every conversation online or in the pub 🤷🤷🤷

At this stage I just feel disgusted at politicians grandstanding about supporting or condemning a fraction of the population. It’s pure disgusting how much contempt comes across from them doing so regardless of which side their on
