Only a few organizations in Ukraine specialize in animal evacuation. Hotlines are overwhelmed with applications, and in some places, volunteers contact them directly to organize the evacuation and gather all possible information that could be helpful. Many animals are evacuated “accidentally” – finding them on the side of the road or catching them in yards, often very exhausted or injured. Some animals are attached to the military in landings or positions, where, if possible, they are fed. The number of decorative or “purebred” animals is difficult to calculate.
People mistakenly believe that animals, by the very fact of their existence, are adapted to natural conditions. It is a great happiness if one of such animals can and wants to be fed by neighbors, but, unfortunately, this does not always happen. An open gate and the presence of at least one living human soul nearby are by no means a guarantee of their survival.
In particularly dangerous areas, delaying the search and capture can be crucial for volunteers. You also need to take into account the condition of the animals themselves, who are simply afraid to go because of loud noises, unfamiliar people, or the amount of smells in the car. All this provokes panic, and in some places it is necessary to use sleeping pills for safety reasons – both for volunteers and for the animals themselves.
We have thousands of animals left in frontline areas for various reasons, and most of them will have to find a new home and owner.

This is something that is far too frequently overlooked. Thank you heroes for caring for the 4 legged that desperately needed help.
