Additionally, it’s worth pointing out none of this suffering and misery would have occurred if private prosecutions in England and Wales weren’t legal. This is the mechanism that the post office used to prosecute, _without police involvement_, it’s own staff. It’s the same mechanism that lets train companies prosecute children for fraud and regular passengers for molestation if they get in someone’s way. And it’s the same mechanism that sees no end of spurious private prosecution attempts by businesses against customers that often get thrown out for wasting court time but nevertheless cause untold stress on defendants.

Even America has banned private prosecutions – we need to follow suit. Write to MP to demand change
