Quindi questa volta ai greco-ciprioti in un referendum dovrebbero essere date solo 2 opzioni:
- Accettare la soluzione federativa proposta oppure
- Accetta la soluzione a 2 stati
Capisco che per i turco-ciprioti lo status quo significa essere isolati e non riconosciuti, perdere le opportunità e la prosperità dell’UE, quindi ne sono stufi.
D’altro canto, per i greco-ciprioti, lo status quo significa essere costantemente minacciati di guerra e distruzione, avere 100.000 soldati turchi accanto, enormi quantità di ricchezza, proprietà, case sotto occupazione. Quindi anche noi siamo stufi dello status quo.
Allo stesso modo "nessun ritorno allo status quo" Sarebbe giusto che in un referendum i turco-ciprioti avessero solo due opzioni:
- Accettare la soluzione federativa proposta oppure
- Le truppe turche tornano a casa, le proprietà vengono restituite, tornano in un unico stato simile al 1960
So che ci sono molti federalisti TC qui, quindi mi piacerebbe davvero sapere se lo accetterebbero.
A mio parere, nessuna delle due comunità accetterà mai una condizione del genere, quindi se la leadership di TC insiste ad aggiungerla, non finiremo mai da nessuna parte.

There are still some very key topics to be discussed with regards to the federalisation so we are still far from the referendum as the two sides still do not agree on some things for example the removal of foreign troops
“Accept the proposed federation solution”? This could mean 1 million different things. Whether a solution will be accepted must be fair both for gc and tc
Nitpicking from the type theory: for any question requiring a boolean answer (have you stopped drinking Cognac in the morning?), for which you don’t like either of answers, there is always the third option, which is `⊥` (bottom type), also called ‘divergence’.
Which in practical terms means ‘ignore the question’ or ‘do not provide the answer’.
If you put to the referendum question with option A or B, and people do not like neither A nor B, they will choose option C: do not come to referendum, and you will have failed referendum.
I’m not in politics here, I’ve just spotted ‘binary option’ problem.
The contents of referendums never offer choices.
They are always a proposed package of changes with the question of whether you accept it or not.
