Don’t be ridiculous. She can’t do it. That would be the end of her.
If Labour do this there is literally no reason for anybody under the age of 50 to ever vote for them again. If you absolutely have to break a manifesto pledge the triple lock is right there for the taking.
ROLL NI INTO INCOME TAX OR APPLY NATIONAL INSURANCE TO PRIVATE PENSIONS.
How much should we give? More, more, more…
Fuck off
All politicians are bloodsucking leeches. The public sector is a pile of bureaucratic nobodies who couldnt change a lightbult without spending 10 grand. The NHS probably wastes close to 40% of its budget on managment that sit on their arses doing fuck all every single day.
The world would be a better place realistically if we could be rid of these parasites.
Honestly I’d rather she raises income tax, than all these tweaks that fuck us all indirectly anyway. But no way can she justify a 2% raise on workers. When pensions and benefits are getting another 4%+ rise.
They realised pointing the loaded shotgun at their feet was a bad idea, so came up with the excellent idea of aiming it upwards under their chin instead.
Here is tax revenue as a percentage of GDP. It has never been higher: [**https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/GC.TAX.TOTL.GD.ZS?locations=GB**](https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/GC.TAX.TOTL.GD.ZS?locations=GB)
Where is all the money going? Redditors will say “the triple lock” but that alone doesn’t explain it, not by a long shot. Our money is just being squandered and the government has no interest in managing anything, they are bleeding us dry and for what?
Time to remove NI relief on people over 66. Or just get rid of NI entirely and slightly increase income tax.
Oh Rachel, Rachel, Rachel. You Do that and you’ll back with Angela in the cheap seats before Christmas. You can’t break a promise, it makes you look untrustworthy.
They might as well, they’ve fucked everything else up in the last 18 months
Any millennial paying attention knows that there’s a strong chance of little being left in the pot for them in retirement but are hit with harsher taxes when the currency is diluted.
Most folk pay in because of a belief in a failing concept will pull itself out of the hole.
Nothing says a workers party like selling workers down the river to pay for people who don’t work
It’s all stick and no carrot with these fucking vampires
For the love of all that is holy just give the pensioners maybe a little less?
Why do Normal working folk have to be stretched so thin and taxed to the gills so Dorris can go on 3 cruises a year…
Putting up the basic rate is the right thing to do.
I think the entire country should go on strike, just as the French would in such circumstances.
Income has already been hit with inflation AND thresholds not rising meaning higher effective tax rates for the inflation following salaries. Plus the extra NI.
They always planned that. Honestly I don’t know whom to vote for anymore.
The best thing for us up north is that the SNP will see this tax increase as an excuse to further tax us above UK rate even more. Yaaaah!
It’s not going to apply to your average Labour voter anyway
Get rid of the triple lock, 20% VAT on second homes at purchase and 10% on its Sale, 1% on all assets above 10 million, 3% on all assest above 1 billion.
If they do this, they will rightly be punished, but it’s just a case of getting reform in.
What’s the point of having pledges in a manifesto if you’re not going to stick to them. What’s stopping another party making all these promises to just break them when they get in. There should be a law that stops parties from breaking their pledges
You gov polling says 75% want a tax on the rich.
Anything else is going to be very unpopular.
Why is the triple lock not being discussed by government? Do OAPs vote for Labour? No.
Why are they acting like £50k is a lot of money? Especially in cities like London. Once again the middle class gets shafted.
Why income tax? Public sector final salary pensions, means tested benefits for the retired, digital services tax, gambling (most of which is offshore and a complete heist), bottled alcohol, vapes and cigs?
Completely sensible. The most efficient and effective way to raise tax. Should be targeted at the basic rate of income tax which is far too low.
I fuckin hate this woman. Tax working people to give money to people to sit on their ass.
Triple lock needs to be means tested.
Remove benefits from illegals.
Fucks SAKE
I was so happy when Labour got in. They are fucking squandering it.
TALK ABOUT WHY WE ARE POOR NOW.
Brexit, tories, austerity, tories.
Talk about it all the time otherwise they will give it to Reform and then we’ll have to live the current American nightmare.
If a party breaks a manifesto pledge, they are dead forever for a lot of people (students and Lib Dems for example), keep that in mind Reeves xD
So, people who are physically working to better a nation are going to be taxed? What about the people who sit back and reinvest their wealth to create more wealth and just increase prices on everything, product, real estate, and services? Stop trying to protect political donors and leave the workers alone.
It seems I voted for the Tories… could have sworn I voted for the Labour candidate idk
Once again the productive must pay to support the unproductive.
